We completed our eleventh spelling test today.  This week our spelling test included a total of eight words -- six words from this week's list plus two "mystery" words from previous spelling lists.  This will help us assess whether students are retaining what they have learned.  Our spelling books and a new word list for next week's spelling homework will come home tomorrow.

Today we further discussed the sense of smell and completed:  "Tony and the Cookies".

We completed our tenth spelling test today.  Our spelling books and a new word list for next week's spelling homework will come home tomorrow.

Today we learned about ears and hearing.  We talked about things that are loud and things that are quiet.  We discussed how we can protect our ears from loud sounds.  

Parents - please review these concepts with your son / daughter.

Reminder:  There is no school for students on Monday February 28, 2011.  

Spelling homework is due on Tuesday March 1, 2011.

Today we had a lot of fun exploring using our senses!  First we played a Sound Guess game where they had to use their sense of hearing to figure out what was making the sounds they listened to on the SMART Board.  Second we passed around Smelling Cups where the students had to use their sense of smell to figure out what was in each cup.  Next we moved on to our sense of touch and students had to use their hands to explore what was in our Feeling Bags.  Last, we used our sense of taste and did a Taste Test to identify foods that were salty, sweet, sour and bitter.  Please review these activities with your son or daughter and see if they know which of the 5 senses we didn't have an activity for!

(*  The answer is our sense of sight !)
