Our spelling books and a new word list for next week's spelling homework went home yesterday.
Homework is due on Tuesday May 31, 2011.
This week's words are:

Teacher's Pet was here today!
Kristy came with her stuffed monkey to meet us!
Each student got to choose a pet (either a giraffe, zebra, lion, rhinoceros or elephant)
to color, cut out and put together.
Then they made a zoo home for their pet.
Together the class created a zoo full of animals!
We had four parent volunteers who came to help.
Thank you to those mothers for their assistance!
Social Studies
Today we talked about our families and how they looked before the students were born.
Tomorrow we will talk about how our families looked when the students were born
and how they look today.
Here is what a few students wrote:
Before I was born there was my mom and my dad. They lived in India. My mom was married to my dad. He worked in a store and my mom worked in the kitchen. She made food for my dad and herself. R.P.
Before I was born my mom and dad got married. My dad worked at a restaurant and my mom did not work. But shy worked in the kitchen and she made supper for my dad and herself. My dad loved her food. My dad made food too. K.B.
Before I was born my mom and dad and my sister were the only ones in the house. My dad and mom and sister lived in India and I was not born and my mom and dad were married and I wasn't there. My sister was big but not as big as my mom and dad. B.S.

as a fund raiser for relief in Japan.
