Reminder:  Don't forget to practice your Home Reading tonight and return your book tomorrow so that you can have a new Home Reading book for the weekend!

Today we reviewed and discussed what we learned about "Animals in Winter" from Gail Gregory yesterday.  We did a cut and paste activity and some writing about how animals keep warm and adapt to cold weather.

Reminder:  Don't forget to practice your Home Reading tonight and return your book tomorrow so that you can have a new Home Reading book for the weekend!

Tomorrow is "Sunglasses Day" so remember to bring your sunglasses to wear at school on Friday morning.

Today we learned all about Animals in Winter.  Gail Gregory taught us how they adapt and survive in the cold weather.  Below are some pictures of the animal puppets, pelts, skulls, scat and footprints that we saw today.
Parents -- ask your child to tell you about the pictures below and what they learned about animals in winter.

A toad puppet.  Toads hibernate in the mud at the bottom of a pond.
A frog puppet and a turtle puppet.  They also hibernate in winter.

Spelling books went home today and this week's homework is due on Monday January 24, 2011.

We will be attending a presentation on "Winter Animals" tomorrow.  Puppeteer, Gail Gregory, will use puppets, songs, movement, and animal pelts to teach us how animals adapt to winter.  Today we discussed and organized pictures of animals that hibernate, migrate and stay awake in winter.
Parents --  ask your son / daughter about the winter animals below and discuss whether they hibernate, migrate or stay awake.  This will help further prepare them for tomorrow's presentation.
